Barlett and Steele, two of our most renowned economic journalists, have done it again

December 30, 2012

A review by Laura Clawson, at Daily Kos, of their new book, “The Betrayal of the American Dream.”

Ever since their famous series, “America: What Went Wrong” in the Philly Inquirer, Barlett and Steele have been carefully recording the relentless decline of the quality of life of millions of Americans, and describing clearly how this was not the result of some unalterable economic laws, but of specific policy choices, particularly regarding taxes. In short, the game has been rigged.

Whether this drives change is problematic — I can’t even see Barack Obama reading this one — but the truth is in these pages.
