Man, Did the Cardinals Need This Today

100 games left in the season, Redbirds were at .500 and coming off a miserable stretch (3-7 in the last 10 games, including losing their last 5 in a row, offense sputtering [.205 BA], rotation getting beaten up [6.04 ERA], shut out twice in that stretch, and two blown saves), and Shelby Miller, who’s dropped his last three decisions, comes up aces. Takes a no-hitter into the 6th, ends up with a complete-game shutout over the Blue Jays, who’ve only been blanked one other time this season. Whether this sparks a turnaround is yet to be determined. If the Redbirds, behind Jaime Garcia, manage to win Sunday, it will be their first series victory in 2 weeks.
