This is What “Better” Looks Like

Cards, behind Joe Kelly, pay the Cubs back in their own coin, winning 4-0 this afternoon at Wrigley.

Kelly has been the rock of the rotation, winning his last 4 in a row and 6 of his last 10. Each of those last 4 wins followed a Cardinal loss. His line today: 6 innings, 4 hits, no runs, 3 walks, and 6 Ks. The Redbird offense only got five hits, but they made the most of them. Yadi was 2 for 4 with a home run, and John Jay showed some heads-up baserunning in the 5th, coming home on an infield fly.

The Snakes pounded the Pirates, 15-5, so we’re back to 2 games behind. Wain-O gets another shot at number 14 tomorrow. Then Milwaukee, then Atlanta, and then the 2 weeks that will decide everything – 13 games in a row against the Pirates (6) and the Reds (7).
