Astros 8, Cardinals 2

Chris Johnson sends his first grand slam into the seats.

The Cardinals helped beat themselves Friday with two critical errors, both of which opened the door to the Astros’ scoring.

Saturday, Jaime Garcia had more problems with a team he has never beaten. With a 1-run lead in the bottom of the first, Jaime Garcia walked the bases full. Still, he got 2 outs and had an 0-2 count on Chris Johnson, when he made a mistake, Johnson took him deep. Just like that, it was 4-1, Astros, and they never looked back.

The Astros’ Bud Norris, meanwhile, continued his effectiveness against St. Louis and held the Redbirds to 3 hits and 1 run over 6 innings.

Let’s hope Adam Wainwright has more of his old magic today.
