But, but, the rich pay most of the taxes!

However, as has been the case for many years, they pay a smaller portion of their incomes in taxes than ordinary wage-earners. James Stewart's piece in this morning’s NY Times is a very well-written, and very instructive, read.

There’s more coming. The great investigative reporting duo of Don Barlett and James Steele will be publishing a sequel to their 1991 book, America: What Went Wrong, which was showcased on PBS. In the meantime, you can follow some excellent work on issues surrounding our economic security and economic justice at a project they've set up with American University's investigative reporting workshop.

This could be a watershed year in American journalism.
