New CTJ report looks at how the tax code subsidizes particular corporations

As many of us have argued, much of our current economic malaise is not due to uncontrollable market forces to whose whims we are subservient, but to public policy created by our elected representatives.

CTJ and the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy have a new report on how tax policy subsidizes corporate income.

Marian Wright Edelman , president of the Children’s Defense Fund, has some thoughts on the consequences of this situation.

Look, no matter where you fall on economic issues like income inequality, funding social programs, or whatever else, you can still acknowledge that the present system isn’t something that grew up organically; we – or, at least those people who vote in Congress and the people who influence them – created it. We have the same power to change it and to alter the consequences.
