The 80s interpretation of the traditional power trio. I saw them in an NYC club at 2 a.m. and played the hell out of their first album on the radio and as a dance DJ. Always drove people to ecstasy.
Femmes – Blister in the Sun This is also the song Gano sold to Wendy’s hamburgers, really pissing off Ritchie, triggering a lawsuit, and eventually breaking up the band. Bummer.
Got to interview Brian Ritchie once, and also reviewed Gordon’s other band, Mercy Seat, after a gig in Burlington, VT. As I walked up to say hello, Gano looks up (I’m about a foot taller) and grins and says, “Aren’t you a little old to be here?”
Never too old to love good music.
