The Faith Community Responds

I practically have a ring-side seat to the awful freakshow in DC these days, and some days it’s hard to shake off the depression at what has become of the world’s greatest democracy.

But every now and then, a dollop of hope, or at least a moment’s relief, appears. So it is that I discover the faith collaborative, Circle of Protection, a group of religious leaders who are trying very hard to remind us that public policy isn’t about just balancing the books, and especially not balancing them on the backs of the poor.

The Washington Post has a piece out on the group’s strategy of running ads on Christian radio stations in politically-important markets, such as in Mitch McConnell’s, Harry Reid’s, and John Boehner’s back yards. Post on Circle

This may all come to naught, or it may actually stir the glimmerings of conscience in a few Members. Not holding my breath, you understand . . . .
