Solomon Burke

Over this past weekend, we received the news that one of soul’s greatest practitioners, the man whose voice has been described as “sweet thunder,” Solomon Burke, had passed away.

His discography is substantial, and his influence profound. This one, “Cry to Me,” remains my favorite:
